Tokyo Symposium: Tokyo, A Town Where Women Shine

On Monday, August 31, Governor Masuzoe attended the Tokyo Symposium: Tokyo, A Town Where Women Shine event.

At the start of the ceremony, the governor said, “Since taking office, I have worked to generate momentum throughout society for rethinking work styles and promoting the active engagement of women in society, as I believe this to be an important priority. The 2020 Tokyo Games, which will bring together people from Japan and around the world, is certainly a symbol of diversity. Tokyo, the host city, must be a city where all people can demonstrate their abilities and be successful regardless of nationality, age, and gender. I hope that today’s theme—The Success of Women—will also remain as one of the intangible legacies of the Games. In addition, I hope that this symposium will inspire everyone to think and work together to truly make Tokyo ‘a town where women shine.’”

This event was held in conjunction with the World Assembly for Women in Tokyo: WAW! 2015 symposium hosted by the central government with the aim of further promoting the success of women in Tokyo.
