Governor’s Comments on the Unveiling of the Tokyo 2020 Emblems

Today, the Tokyo Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games (Tokyo 2020) unveiled the emblems of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games (Tokyo 2020 Games). Tokyo Governor Yoichi Masuzoe commented on this as follows.

“I would like to express my deep appreciation and respect to Ryohei Miyata, Chair of the Tokyo 2020 Emblems Selection Committee, and the committee members for the hard work they put into the selection of such an excellent design, while valuing the participation of the citizens of Tokyo and the rest of Japan in this effort.

The official emblems are symbols of the Tokyo 2020 Games. United under these emblems, I welcome the participation of many of our citizens as we together strive to achieve our goal of making the Tokyo 2020 Games a huge success.

As the government of the host city, we will work in close cooperation with the organizing committee and accelerate preparations to achieve the best-ever Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Your ongoing support will be very much appreciated.”
