Site Visits by the IOC Evaluation Commission
平成25（2013）年3月4日（月曜）、IOC評価委員会は、選手村予定地である晴海地区や有明地区等を視察しました。有明テニスの森では、猪瀬知事自らテニスコートに立って、国枝慎吾選手とラリーを行い、選手第一の実施計画やスポーツの楽しさを、会場を訪れた評価委員会にアピールしました。
On Monday, March 4, the IOC Evaluation Commission inspected the proposed venues for the 2020 Games including the planned site for the Olympic Village in the Harumi area and the Ariake area. At Ariake Tennis Park, Governor Inose took it on himself to express the joy of sports to the commission by exchanging shots on court with Shingo Kunieda, a three-time Paralympic gold medalist in wheelchair tennis. The governor also underscored the fact that athletes are at the heart of the Tokyo Games plan.
夜には記者会見が行われ、知事、竹田招致委員会理事長に、次世代を担う高梨沙羅選手や神本雄也選手も加わりました。知事は、「東京は、ヨーロッパの近代都市とまた違う、たぐいまれなホスピタリティのある都市である、ということを評価委員会に報告しました」と、プレゼンテーションの成果を振り返りました。
Governor Inose was joined by Tsunekazu Takeda, President of the Tokyo 2020 Bid Committee, and members of the next generation of world-class athletes, Sara Takanashi (ski jump) and Yuya Kamoto (gymnastics), at a press conference held the same evening. Reflecting on the accomplishments of the day’s presentation to the IOC, the governor commented, “I delivered the message to the IOC Evaluation Commission that Tokyo is a city offering exceptional hospitality in a sophisticated atmosphere that differs from that of the stylish cities of Europe.”
