Thousands gather to celebrate Tokyo’s successful Olympic bid
平成25年9月10日（火曜）夜、帰国した猪瀬知事は、多くの方々にお集まりいただいた都庁前都民広場での2020年オリンピック・パラリンピック東京開催決定 都民報告会に成田空港から駆けつけました。
知事は、「ただ今ブエノスアイレスから戻りました。都民、国民の皆さんの声援はブエノスアイレスまで届きました。おかげさまで2020年オリンピック・パラリンピックを東京で開催することが決まりました。都民、国民の皆さんの声援、都議会議員、国会議員、スポーツ関係者、アスリート、財界、経済界含めた各団体、町内会、オールジャパンのチームが勝ったのです。2020年開催まで、希望を作って、そして元気を出してがんばりましょう。」と招致実現に尽力にいただいた方々に感謝の言葉を述べました。
On the evening of Tuesday, September 10, Governor Inose, having just returned from Buenos Aires, rushed from Narita International Airport to the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building’s Tomin Hiroba (Citizens’ Plaza), where thousands had gathered to celebrate Tokyo being selected to host the 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
To the crowd, the governor expressed his appreciation to all who worked to make the bid to host a reality, “I have just returned from Buenos Aires. Support from you - the people of Tokyo and Japan - reached us in Buenos Aires. It is because of your support that Tokyo was named the host city for the 2020 Games. With the support of the public, members of the Tokyo Metropolitan Assembly and the Diet, athletes, and a variety of groups, including sports-related groups and those from the business sector, our all-around team won the bid. Until we host the Games in 2020, let’s create hope, keep our spirits high, and work together toward this goal!”
