On Monday, November 25, Governor Koike attended a roundtable discussion for foreign media outlets covering finance at the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Main Building No. 1. At the event, the governor and others working to realize the “Global Financial City: Tokyo” fielded questions from the media outlets invited to attend.
As one of its initiatives to realize the “Global Financial City: Tokyo” vision, the Tokyo Metropolitan Government invites members of foreign media organizations who cover finance to Tokyo. Through the articles and images created, the initiative aims to promote the appeal of Tokyo as a global financial city. The roundtable event featuring the governor was also held as a part of this initiative.
Governor Koike said, “Since taking office as governor, I have been committed to restoring Tokyo to its position as Asia’s number one financial hub, and making it a global financial city where talent, funds, information, and technology gather, not only from Japan, but from around the world.” She then went on to add, “I want as many people as possible around the world to know about Tokyo’s appeal as a global financial city. To achieve this, I hope that all of the leading international media outlets gathered here will widely promote the attractions of Tokyo.”
