Ambassadors from the Group of Latin America and Caribbean Countries visit the governor

On Friday, May 30, ambassadors from the Group of Latin America and Caribbean Countries (GRULAC) paid a courtesy call on Governor Masuzoe.

The governor welcomed the ambassadors, saying, "Thank you very much for coming to the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Office. I am so honored to have you here."

During the meeting, he said, "Tokyo will host the Olympic and Paralympic Games in 2020. Rio de Janeiro will be hosting the Summer Games in two years, and I will be there at the closing ceremony to accept the Olympic flag from the mayor of Rio. I will firmly take on the responsibility to make the Tokyo Games the best ever."

The GRULAC consists of 33 Latin American and Caribbean countries that are members of the United Nations. The ambassadors of the 22 countries that have embassies in Tokyo gather to deepen friendship and engage in study tours to learn more about Japan.
