On Thursday, February 5, a friendship delegation from the districts and counties of Beijing, headed by Mr. Ji Yan, District Head of the People’s Government of Fengtai District, paid a courtesy call on Governor Masuzoe.

At the meeting, the governor said, “Our efforts to advance exchanges to address challenges faced by large cities like Beijing and Tokyo are very significant both for the residents of Beijing and the residents of Tokyo. I hope the relationship between Tokyo and Beijing, and between Japan and China, will develop further.”

The exchanges between the municipalities of Tokyo and the districts and counties of Beijing started in 1981. The two sides have since been sending delegations to each other every two years.
