On Tuesday, March 31, Governor Masuzoe, along with Prime Minister Abe, attended the opening ceremony for the Tokyo One-Stop Business Establishment Center in the Tokyo Area National Strategic Special Zone.

The Tokyo One-Stop Business Establishment Center was jointly established by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government and the national government at the JETRO Headquarters in Tokyo on Wednesday, April 1, to promote more business start-ups including the establishment of companies by foreigners. By bringing together the service counters of the relevant authorities, the center provides consultation and comprehensive support for the various filing procedures required for incorporation and start of business, including those for company registration, taxes, and social security, and acceptance of applications for issuance of the Certificate of Eligibility for Resident Status.

At the opening ceremony, the Governor spoke of his enthusiasm: “This center will continue to enhance user-oriented services. This will include providing English language support for procedures related to company establishment. Strong promotional activities will also be rolled out, such as conveying information on this center at international conferences and overseas seminars. Last year, I had the opportunity to speak at London’s Chatham House about my vision for Tokyo as it strongly advances toward the future. I truly felt that global attention is now focusing on Tokyo. We are advancing with initiatives to restore Tokyo to its position as a global financial center on a par with New York and London, and to make the city a global hub for the life sciences business. I want companies to make big profits here in Tokyo, which is evolving into a city full of business opportunities and dynamism. This will lead to the revitalization of Tokyo’s economy, as well as that of Japan. I will work closely with Prime Minister Abe and the central government, and do my utmost to make Tokyo a global business city.”
