Governor speaks at a meeting with top senior officials

On Thursday, April 30, Governor Masuzoe attended a meeting with the highest senior officials of the Tokyo Metropolitan Government, on his first day back in the office. He was discharged from the hospital two days earlier.

During the meeting, the governor said, “I was hospitalized on April 1, and came back in a month. As the surgery went well, I was making the necessary decisions regarding metropolitan administration while in the hospital. I worked hard on rehabilitation, and regained the ability to resume my everyday duties without restriction. I think I should have seen a specialist earlier. This is also true of our policies; you may be able to get a new perspective by having somebody else to look at the situation. I think it is beneficial for TMG staff to share opinions on issues, even across bureaus. We are very lucky to have the opportunity to work here at this moment, in the run-up to the 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games. Hosting the Games will be a historic event, and I want to make it a success. Even if you face problems in your routine work, you can move forward by tackling them one by one. With this in mind, I will recommit myself to my work and producing results.”
