Ambassador of Spain to Japan visits the governor

On Thursday, July 16, H.E. Mr. Gonzalo de Benito, Ambassador of Spain to Japan, paid a courtesy call on Governor Masuzoe.

At the meeting, the governor said, “As part of our city diplomacy efforts, we are working to maintain good relations with cities around the world. I hope to establish friendly ties with many cities in Spain, including Barcelona—a past Olympic Games host city. Tokyo produces a number of fresh ingredients, including seafood, vegetables, meat, and fruit, and I think that the flavor of our TOKYO X brand pork can really compete with that of Iberico pork. Just as there are sister cities agreements, I hope we can form a ‘sister pig’ agreement between these two types of pigs someday. I hope that you will assist me at that time. Tokyo will host the Olympic and Paralympic Games in 2020, and I hope to be able to welcome many athletes and spectators from Spain!”
