On Wednesday, July 22, the governor attended the Multilingual ICT Promotion Forum—People’s Hospitality with Technology.

In his address, he said, “Today, we wish to share the latest examples of multilingual solutions and utilization of ICT by the private and public sectors, and renew our determination to work together in advancing such efforts. I hope to develop tourism into a major industry for Tokyo and Japan. As language poses an obstacle to this, we must come up with multilingual solutions. Although it may be difficult to learn one language in a few months, I think we can overcome this problem with the help of ICT.”

The Multilingual ICT Promotion Forum was held by the Multilingual Council, formed to prepare for the 2020 Games. Aiming for the early realization of removal of language barriers by accelerating efforts to build a multilingual environment in preparation for the Games, the forum was held for municipalities, prefectures and private groups that are engaging in such efforts. The forum featured lectures on pioneering efforts, introduced the latest ICT trends, and held workshops.
