Tokyo’s “Special Zone for Asian Headquarters” project to be introduced in London

The Tokyo Metropolitan Government is advancing a project to attract foreign companies to its Special Zone for Asian Headquarters with the aim to introduce further growth by boosting Tokyo’s international competitiveness.

The JETRO & UKTI symposium will be held in London as described below, to foster better understanding of the Japanese market and increase investment from the UK. At this symposium, a representative from the Tokyo Metropolitan Government will give a presentation on the strengths and allure of Tokyo as well as the incentives offered by the Special Zone for Asian Headquarters to promote this project to UK companies that are interested in investment in Japan.

In addition to this, the Tokyo delegation will participate in a networking event and have one-on-one meetings with UK companies. Using these opportunities, Tokyo will encourage foreign companies to set up business in the Special Zone for Asian Headquarters.

  • Goal: To attract 500 foreign companies or more by fiscal 2016, including 50 companies establishing their Asian regional headquarters or R&D center
