Donation box set up to support earthquake recovery efforts in the Kumamoto area

The Tokyo Metropolitan Government (TMG) is collecting donations to support areas devastated by the powerful earthquakes that struck the Kumamoto area in April 2016( External link ) . Please be informed that a donation box has been set up within the Tokyo Tourist Information Center located inside the Tokyo Metropolitan Government, Main Building No. 1. Your support of recovery efforts is greatly appreciated.

2. Time frame for the donation box

From April 18, 2016 to June 30, 2016.

3. How donations will be handled

Contributions received will be donated to the affected areas through the TMG 2016 Kumamoto Earthquake Relief Fund.

4. Other

The TMG plans to set up collection boxes at other locations as well.

In addition, the Tokyo Tourist Information Center is providing information to foreign tourists on the earthquakes and the status of transportation systems in the Kumamoto area.
