Basic Plan for Tokyo 2020 Live Sites and Public Viewings

The Tokyo Metropolitan Government and the Tokyo Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games together will set up sites for public viewing and other activities in Tokyo and the Tohoku and Kumamoto regions that were devastated by earthquakes in 2011 and 2016, respectively. These sites will welcome visitors and spectators from around the world, allowing them to enjoy viewing live broadcasts of the competition events and share in the emotions and excitement of the Olympic and Paralympic Games Tokyo 2020.
The Basic Plan for Tokyo 2020 Live Sites and Public Viewings(PDF:218KB)  has now been finalized following coordination with relevant parties based on the draft of the basic plan formulated in January 2019.

Among the sites for “Tokyo Public Viewings” that were under consideration in the basic plan draft, the Tama area sites chosen were: the area around Tokyo Metropolitan University Minami-Osawa Campus in Hachioji City for the Olympic Games period, and the area around Chofu Station Plaza in Chofu City during the Paralympic Games period.

Preparations for the Tokyo 2020 Games will be steadily advanced based on the Basic Plan.
