About the TMG Disaster Language Volunteers

This is a system that allows Tokyo residents of all nationalities, including international residents who have attained a certain level of Japanese language skill, to register as volunteers. These volunteers support international residents in the event of a natural disaster by providing interpretation and translation services. Outside of emergency situations, these volunteers may also serve as interpreters when necessary. (As of Nov. 11, 2019, 796 people have registered as volunteers in this program, offering support in 17 languages.)
