Pay metropolitan taxes with an app on your smartphone

In order to make paying metropolitan taxes more convenient and to further promote cashless payments, the Bureau of Taxation launched a system to allow users to pay metropolitan taxes using payment apps on June 1, 2020.

1 Pay your taxes easily at home whenever you like

Scan the barcode on your tax notice using the app to pay your taxes whenever you like, wherever you like.

3 Apps that can be used

PayPay, LINE Pay
(Only LINE Pay supports languages other than Japanese.)
*You must create and/or charge your account beforehand.
*There is a special usage fee.

4 Applicable taxes

Fixed Assets Tax and City Planning Tax (23 wards), Fixed Assets Tax (depreciable assets) (23 wards), Real Estate Acquisition Tax, Business Tax on Individuals, Motor Vehicle Tax, etc.

  • Only valid for tax notices for amounts of up to 300,000 yen per sheet (those with a barcode).

5 How to pay

Using a smartphone payment app with the ability to pay bills, scan the barcode on your tax notice to pay your tax bill.

6 Other information

Online tax payment by app has been introduced as part of efforts to prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus. Tokyo Metropolitan Government requests that residents use cashless payment methods (PayEasy, credit cards, etc.) where possible to avoid face-to-face interaction when paying taxes.
