The Future of Pandas is Blooming
- Thank you Xiang Xiang -

Xiang Xiang, the giant panda born on June 12, 2017 in the Ueno Zoological Gardens (Ueno Zoo), will be returned to China by December 31, 2020. The name “Xiang Xiang” was chosen to reflect the wish that the panda may blossom like a flower, be surrounded by love, and light the way into the future. The zoo started an event on “Panda Day” October 28, to honor the beloved Xiang Xiang, in the hope that it will brighten the future of pandas everywhere.
This event is distributed on the website of the Ueno Zoo (Tokyo Zoo Net( External link )), the Tokyo Zoo Net YouTube channel(External link), and the official Twitter of the Ueno Zoo(External link). Please enjoy viewing from the comfort of your home.
The Zoo will provide updates on the details and the end date, etc. of the event on its official website.

*The Ueno Zoo has designated October 28 as Panda Day to commemorate the first time giant pandas came to live in the zoo in Japan, on October 28, 1972.
