Selection of businesses for “CO2 reduction action (zero emission action) movement - A sustainable society created by consumers and businesses”

Toward the realization of a Zero Emission Tokyo, the Tokyo Metropolitan Government (TMG) has selected businesses that will jointly with TMG spearhead efforts to promote CO2 reduction actions (zero emission actions) that will in turn contribute to the achievement of SDGs.
The following businesses were selected through the open recruitment during the period November 2 to 20, 2020.

1 Names etc. of selected projects

(1)Listing of CO2 emissions in household accounts of condominium residents

• Proponents
  Mitsubishi Estate Residence Co., Ltd., MEC eco LIFE Co., Ltd.
• Contents
  Presenting documents with estimates of annual energy costs and CO2 emissions when selling condominiums. This will lead to purchasers considering the impact of their lifestyle choices and give businesses an incentive to offer more energy efficient buildings with lower CO2 emissions.

(2)Zero Emission Actions 2050 Collaboration Platform

• Proponent
  Sustainable Lifestyle TOKYO Executive Committee
• Contents
  Creating a forum for providing information on zero emission actions that tells consumers how much CO2 common lifestyle activities emit so that individuals can reduce their carbon footprint as well as a forum for pairing up zero emission ideas, helping encourage collaboration between various actors, including consumers and businesses. Promotion of a sustainable recovery that contributes to the achievement of SDGs.

2 Others (target projects of the open recruitment)

A process of open recruitment invited projects that focus on the community’s uptake of CO2 reduction action (zero emission action). Each project was expected to continue for three years from FY 2020 to FY 2022 and undertake verification of the effects.
TMG will provide a grant of up to JPY 5 million for each of selected projects (only in FY 2020).
