2. Budget for the 2016 fiscal year

With these things in mind we have formulated a general account draft budget totaling 7.011 trillion yen. This budget is positioned as a budget to accelerate, deepen and push initiatives forward to make Tokyo the best city in the world. It includes 1.25 trillion yen for the implementation of projects set out in the long-term vision for Tokyo. With a focus on our vision for the future, we will not miss any opportunity to use all policy tools to maximize results. Now is the time for us to make bold investments to realize a bright future.

As you are all aware, a distinguishing feature of Tokyo metropolitan finances is that they are greatly affected by the prevailing economic climate. Despite this, in order to steadily advance important policy measures, in addition to setting aside money in funds, we revised 325 existing projects―more than last year―and have been able to secure 30 billion yen in finances. We will consistently pursue the creation and maintenance of a solid financial base.
