Test Operation of Fuel Cell Garbage Truck Using Clean Energy Hydrogen

On August 16, 2021, the Tokyo Metropolitan Government, Minato City, and Waseda University started the test operation of a hydrogen-powered fuel cell garbage truck in Minato City.
The fuel cell vehicle does not emit any CO2 when driven, and is quiet while driving and collecting garbage. The introduction is expected to have an impact on waste collection routes that are slow and where trucks frequently stop and start. During the test operation, we will evaluate energy consumption and conduct interviews with collection staff. The aim is to have more in the future.
