Tokyo Water Drunk by Olympians and Paralympians

During the mid-summer Tokyo 2020 Games, water servers using water from Tokyo were placed in the Olympic and Paralympic Village and the Tokyo Media Center for the press, in order for athletes and others to experience the high quality and deliciousness of Tokyo's tap water.
Tom Daley, the British diving gold medalist, commented in a video that the water in Tokyo is clean. Coaches from overseas said that they “used it many times during the Games.” Japanese volunteers also commented that “the water was a lifesaver because it was so hot during the Games.” The name “Tokyowater” comes from the product name of the marketed PET bottles called Tokyo Pure Water, which put water that is delivered to homes through an advanced water purification treatment process [Note]. It is now being used in public relations activities to promote Tokyo tap water. Tokyowater Drinking Stations, utilizing the water of Tokyo, have been set up in about 900 locations throughout Tokyo. We plan to add more in the future, so be sure to use them to hydrate on the go.

[Note] Advanced water purification treatment is a water purification process that utilizes the powerful oxidizing power of ozone and the adsorption function of biological activated carbon in addition to normal water purification treatment. It can remove almost all trace amounts of trihalomethanes, unpleasant odors, and organic substances remaining in water that could not be removed before.

Drinking stations can also be found at the Ueno Zoo, Tokyo Metropolitan Theatre, Asakusa Culture Tourist Information Center, and the Shinjuku Expressway Bus Terminal.
